It’s convenient for them to charge their electric vehicles whilst they are parked up and attending your workplace and for businesses with an EV fleet, it’s essential for day-to-day operations.

What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?

The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is similar to the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS).

It is a Government voucher-based scheme that provides businesses, charities, and public sector organisations financial assistance towards electric vehicle charge points that are installed on workplace premises.

The voucher can provide up to a maximum of £350 per socket at 75% of the total cost of purchase and installation – up to a maximum of 40 chargepoints across all sites for each applicant – to be installed on dedicated off-street parking for staff, visitors, or fleet use.

"In anticipation of us "going electric" I contacted FCS in January 2022 to enquire about having an EV charging point installed at home. As a complete novice, the options and process were fully explained to me, the jargon explained and questions I had all answered. I was provided with a choice of EV chargers, which I chose the tethered Hypervolt. Next I completed a standard pre installation questionnaire, access to property, location of main distribution board etc. I was contacted about a convenient date for installation, in March 2022, in time for the anticipated delivery of our EV. In the prior days to this date, FCS contacted me again to confirm that the date was still convenient and with an exact time for the installation. On the day, the installer arrived on time, we discussed, what had already been confirmed and the started work. Within less than an hour, he knocked on the door to confirm completion of the installation! (The power was only off for 5 minutes or so within this period, so no disruption). He then assisted with downloading associated app for controlling the charger, checked it worked and explained the general operation, there's not much to it. The installer then issued the paperwork and explained clearly how to contact FCS if I needed to. This was followed a couple of weeks later by receipt of my electrical CPS certificate through the post. After taking delivery of the car we use the charger regularly with absolutely no problems, I wholly recommend FCS, they were professional and efficient in all aspects of the installation."
